my thoughts on the gym

1: I hate going
2: I hate untangling the cord to my headphones - the longer it takes, the longer it's been since I have gone to the gym, which means my workout is going to be brutal.
3: I am the only one there that is carrying their phone AND their iPod. I hate my phone. I've debated glueing my iPod to my phone and making an iPhone. Isn't that how it works?
4: I am finally geared up, headphones untangled, phone in one hand, iPod in the other. I walk out to the floor and there are no machines open!
5: If I am really unlucky it is free pizza day and they are serving it right next to the treadmills. My hour workout only takes care of about two bites worth of calories. Maybe it's job security for Planet Fitness - "Keep 'em fat and they'll keep hobblin' back." It's like the dentist giving you pixie sticks.

What keeps you going to the gym? Seriously I am curious...

    1. I want to know the story behind it so bad! I was going to ask what keeps you going to the gym... but I know for a fact you eat all the whoppers in the world and don't have a pound to show for it.

  2. Ironic that I should read this post this morning because I got up early to go to the gym before school, but then looked outside and there was a light frost on all the cars so I knew it would be FREEZING out there and so I convinced myself that I really should just use the early hours to do homework so I got on my computer and.... looked at blogs :) hee hee But really, I can't believe they serve pizza at your gym! haha

  4. I love going to the gym now, when I used to hate it. I think I saw all of the benefits from going regularly: I feel better, I sleep better, I breath better. And hopefully I look better too, but I don't really pay attention to that (as long as I can fit into my clothes). It's also a good time to just let all my random thoughts cycle through my brain as I'm working out. I leave w/ a clear head. When those benefits don't sound enticing enough, all I have to do is see one VS model and I'm tying my running shoes. HA! Use whatever gets your brain in the mood. Good luck!

    1. This was uplifting! I love hearing about someone who enjoys going to the gym. I do feel super relaxed after going and am so glad I went, it is just the being there part that gets me :)

  6. Check out the article on Shala's friends, Becky's blog. Aerobicsmom.com I think--she sent us a link a few weeks ago. There's an article on it called "Do you want to be a whale or a mermaid?" It'll probably surprise you. It did me. And there's also an ad from Nike on there with reasons why we might like our hips! I think it's all under the 'love your body' heading. Anyway, you're beautiful! like Natalie says. See if the gym can contract with subway or have a salad bar for you!!! : ] Ha!

    1. I will check out the article! Maybe if I had my mom's jeans (not the denim hi risers) I wouldn't have to go to the gym so much ;).

  7. That picture is SO funny. Here's the link to that article on Becky's blog http://www.aerobicmom.com/guest-post-do-you-want-to-be-a-whale-or-a-mermaid/ The gym is good if it works for you. If it doesn't work for you there are other ways to stay active. I'd keep going if they fed me pizza, though. . . :) Love you, Shauna!!

    1. You have four kids that keep you running around all day, and the longest staircase in your house! Perhaps I should invest in the latter. I loved the article!

  9. One time I went to the gym and there was no one there. It was so nice. I got on a treadmill near the end of about 20 machines. I was about 30 lbs heavier and not exactly confident, but glad I made it to the gym. Five minutes after starting my run, this 90 lbs princess started running on the machine right next to me. Needless to say I stopped my run and went home. haha.
